I know a lot of people don’t like Coldplay (I do), but you have to give them props for doing this last night at the Hollywood Bowl.

**Trigger warning**
Many, if not all, people have a point in comedy where “OFFENSIVE!” is the only reaction possible. Usually this point is a subject such as rape, or serious assault, but it varies. What normally happens at this point is the offended party will rant and rave about the horrible…
Last week, I unfollowed this person on Twitter. Here’s why. First, look at these three tweets:

Now, watch this video. It’s only five minutes long, but Tumblr won’t let me embed it.
All three tweets were taken from this five minute performance. I have a much bigger problem with this than I do with people stealing tweets (which is also wrong, of course).
This man is a comedian. He is paid to tell jokes (and write them; he’s one of Conan O’Brien’s main writers). This is how he makes a living. The person who stole this man’s material has over 5,000 followers on Twitter. That’s potentially over 5,000 people who now think that this person came up with this material, not to mention the hundreds of people who saw these tweets via retweets. Add to that the people who steal tweets (and I’ve seen at least one of these tweets stolen), and you have a lot of people now exposed to these jokes by someone who didn’t write them.
Now, if this man were to perform somewhere and tell these jokes, there is a possiblity that someone in the audience will have seen one of these jokes on Twitter and will think that HE’S the thief.
I’ve blurred out the person’s avi and name from the tweets because I’m not calling this person out. Besides, someone else already confronted this person about one of the tweets and the person swore it was a coincidence. As you can see, it isn’t. This person has also tweeted stolen material from other comedians on his timeline, but this video was a good representation of the point I wanted to make.
Please, don’t do this sort of thing. You may get some stars and retweets, but you could potentially be ruining someone else’s reputation.
